Man City set sights on superstar duo after £160m deals agreed – report
Man City and Pep Guardiola are preparing for a January transfer blitz with German superstars Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz on their shortlist.
According to The Sun, the Premier League champions could be set to splash £100million in the winter transfer window following a series of summer sales that brought in £160m, most notably with the exits of Julian Alvarez, Joao Cancelo, and Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
Attacking midfielders Wirtz and Musiala, both 21, have been standout performers for club and country with the latter coming second behind Jude Bellingham in 2023’s Kopa Trophy.
It was a quiet summer transfer window for Man City with Savinho, a player already part of the City Football Group, being the only player signed for a fee.
Former captain Ilkay Gundogan later returned to the Etihad Stadium as a free agent following his release after just one year at Barcelona.
Man City eye January moves for Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala
Wirtz was pivotal to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side that ended Bayern Munich’s reign of terror last season, scoring 18 goals and providing 20 assists in 49 games across all competitions.
It was a less productive season for Musiala, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists across 38 appearances, finishing in third, 18 points behind Wirtz’s unbeaten Leverkusen.

It’s been another strong start to the Premier League season for Man City as they currently sit top of the table after three games.
Guardiola’s side will face Brentford in one of the three o’clock kick-offs on Saturday, September 14th once they return from the international break.
