Sources: Man City ready to open talks as £46m Bernardo Silva offer lined up

Man City are preparing to offer Bernardo Silva a “huge” new contract to keep him at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

City recently announced a new five-year contract for Phil Foden following extensive talks after tying down Rodri and Riyad Mahrez to extended deals in the summer.

One of the next contract priorities for the club is Silva, who is an integral member of Pep Guardiola’s team and part of the manager’s long-term planning.

The Portugese, 28, was linked with Barcelona during the summer and there have been subsequent reports they will make a fresh move for him in January.

It is believe City have no intention of letting Silva go mid-season and will instead offer him a lucrative new five-year deal to stay.

His current agreement, worth around £150,000-a-week, is due to expire in the summer of 2025.

City are ready to offer a pay hike as well as an extension to keep hold of the versatile midfielder and big fans favourite.

The whole package could be worth around £46million in total.

Silva was once again in the starting XI for the champions in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Leicester City, his 10th start in the competition this term.

He has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and supplying five assists.

The left-footed star has played 268 matches for City since joining from Monaco in the summer of 2017 and won four league titles as well as one FA Cup.
