Man City star arrested as midfield crisis deepens – report
Man City midfielder Matheus Nunes was arrested after stealing a phone while on a night out in Madrid.
According to Spanish outlet El Mundo, the 26-year-old was arrested by police at Madrid’s famous La Riviera nightclub after snatching another man’s phone.
Nunes was spending the weekend in the Spanish capital after failing to make Roberto Martinez’s squad for their UEFA Nations League games against Croatia and Scotland.
The central midfielder was arrested at 5:30 am with the police report saying Nunes took the phone while in the bathroom.
According to Nunes, the alleged victim tried to take a picture of him without his consent which prompted him to grab his phone.
A witness claims the victim touched Nunes with his phone, to which the player reacted angrily, believing he had taken his picture.
Nunes spent some time behind bars before being bailed out and will remain with Man City ahead of his expected trial.
