Medical expert: Ruben Dias could return against Liverpool after ‘incredible’ Man City reveal

Ruben Dias could make his Man City comeback in the title race showdown against Liverpool on 10 April.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Dias, 24, has been out with a hamstring injury since City’s 2-0 FA Cup win over Peterborough United on 1 March.

The 37-cap centre-back was not named in the Portugal squad for the crucial World Cup qualification play-off against Turkey on Thursday (24 March).

But Pep Guardiola told club media last Saturday (19 March) that Dias is “getting incredibly better” and could be available shortly after the break.

And Dinnery predicts that the defender will likely be targeting the clash against Liverpool to make his comeback.

“Pep will be guided by his medical department,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“Hamstring problems have high recurrence rates. Yes, he’s a pivotal player for Man City, but you don’t want to be rushing him back sooner than necessary.

“They are fairly well stocked in that area. They have got a number of players who can do a job.

“You look at that fixture against Burnley and they will think they have more than enough to get through that.

“It will be that Liverpool game that they are looking to target. Dias shouldn’t be too far away.

“We have seen him back on the training pitches, although a return to training is by no means necessarily a return to play.”

Man City

Liverpool are just one point behind City with nine games to play.

Jurgen Klopp’s side face Watford before the clash at the Etihad, while City travel to Burnley.
