Man City star Erling Haaland sends goodbye message to fans
Man City striker Erling Haaland posted a message to fans saying “see you again” on social media.
Haaland signed an extraordinary contract in January, committing his future to the club for the next nine-and-a-half years, in exchange for becoming the best paid player in Europe.
The deal comes at a turbulent point in the Sky Blues’ history, with City’s on-pitch performances nothing short of disastrous this season and off the pitch, the 115 charges made by the Premier League still linger over the club.
Haaland himself struggled to match the standards he set in his first two years at the club, but he still remains the second-top goal-scorer in the Premier League this season, behind Mohamed Salah.

Erling Haaland scores twice for Norway on international break
Haaland, somewhat unsurprisingly, scored in both of Norway’s games during the international break, as he looks to qualify for a first ever major international tournament.
Having missed out on the last World Cup, the City striker will be keen to make amends and feature at the next one, that will take place in North America in 2026.
Following his goal in the 4-2 win over Israel on Tuesday (25 March), Haaland posted three photos of himself with his teammates on Instagram, captioned: “2/2 See you again in June”.

Football Insider Verdict
Having slumped out of the Carabao Cup, the Champions League, and the Premier League title-race, City’s last remaining chance at claiming silverware this season comes in the form of the FA Cup.
In years gone by, a meeting with Bournemouth would have seemed like a foregone conclusion, but this year, the Sky Blues may actually be the underdogs.
However, whilst an FA Cup would be a nice consolation to missing out on some of the more prestigious prizes, the ultimate goal will remain qualifying for the Champions League.
| 2024/25 Premier League stats | Haaland |

| Starts | 28 |

Missing out on competing in UEFA’s premier tournament would have disastrous financial consequences for the club long-term.
Fortunately, England are set to be awarded five places in the tournament next year, but City claiming one of those spots is not a guarantee, with the gap between them and Fulham in eighth being only three points.
