Man City star Erling Haaland shares Champions League post pre-Real Madrid: ‘Wow’
Man City striker Erling Haaland has reacted to a Champions League memory ahead of his current side’s clash with Real Madrid.
On Wednesday (19 February) Pep Guardiola‘s side head to the Bernabeu to face the Spanish champions in the second leg of their Champions League play-off.
Man City trail 3-2 going into that second-leg, following a late collapse in the reverse fixture at the Etihad last week.
Ahead of that game, Haaland has been looking back on some of his past exploits in the competition from his Borussia Dortmund days.
Erling Haaland reflects on historic Champions League goal
Given he is still only 24-years-old, it is easy to forget quite how long Haaland has been playing at the very top level of football for.
On Tuesday (18 February) though, the Man City striker provided a reminder of the length of his career already, that seemingly even surprised himself.
Taking to his Instagram story, the Norwegian international shared a video of a stunning long-range strike he scored for Borussia Dortmund against PSG in the Champions League, five years ago to the day.
Reflecting on that strike, Haaland simply wrote: “5 years ago?? Wow”

That particular goal had given the German side a 2-1 win in the first-leg of their round of 16 clash with the French champions.
However, a 2-0 win for PSG in the reverse fixture two weeks later would see Haaland and his side knocked out at that stage of the competition.
Man City hope Erling Haaland can make similar impact against Real Madrid
Football Insider Verdict
It is a huge task that the Premier League champions face in the Bernabeu this week as they look to reach the last 16.
With Madrid taking an aggregate lead into the match on home soil in a competition they just seem to thrive in, the odds do look to be stacked against the visitors.
Haaland also gave Man City and Guardiola a scare at the weekend when he limped out of the win over Newcastle United with a knee problem.
After his two goals in the first-leg though, everyone connected with the club will be desperate for him to be able to feature in such a crucial outing.
Indeed, if he does play, a repeat of that goal for Dortmund that could help turn things in his side’s favour this time around, would be very much welcomed by those connected with Man City.
