Man City star Erling Haaland slaughtered as his stats v Real Madrid emerge – ‘Horrible’
Man City star Erling Haaland has been slaughtered for his “woeful” performance against Real Madrid on Tuesday night (9 April).
The Citizens fought out a 3-3 thriller against the La Liga giants at the Santiago Bernabeu with Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol netting for the away side while Rodrygo, Federico Valverde and an own goal from Ruben Dias gave the home side their goals.
However, Haaland, who played the full 90 minutes of the Champions League quarter-final, was silenced by a resilient performance from Madrid’s backline and City’s frequent inability to find him in good positions.
The striker managed just 20 touches, one shot on target, no successful dribbles, just six accurate passes and lost possession seven times.
Erling Haaland was “horrible” for Man City against Real Madrid
He has been a standout for Pep Guardiola’s Premier League and Champions League holders this season having bagged 30 goals in all competitions.
However, he is often criticised for not making an impact on games and failing to show up on the big occasion.
Their clash against Real Madrid is the latest high-profile showdown where Haaland has not provided a goal contribution, with their league draws against Liverpool and Arsenal earlier this month also proving fruitless for the Norway international.
In light of his latest “ghosting”, supporters have taken to social media to berate Haaland, and one fan feels it may be time for City to sell him.
