Man City star Phil Foden slaughtered by fans as his stats from England match emerge
Man City star Phil Foden has been slaughtered by fans for his “terrible” performance for England against Brazil on Saturday evening (23 March).
Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions suffered a 1-0 defeat in front of excited home supporters at Wembley Stadium after Brazilian youngster Endrick bagged the winning goal in the 80th minute.
While England were without both Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka for the friendly, stars like Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice and Ollie Watkins failed to mount much of a threat against the five-time World Cup champions.
However, many fans honed in on Foden, 23, who played the entire 90 minutes of the clash, for his lack of impact on the game.
Man City ace Phil Foden is “overhyped” after England display
He has been in blistering form for his club this season having bagged 18 goals and 10 assists across 42 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, but he did not show any of this quality for his nation against the South American giants.
Across the game, Foden managed just one shot, 44 touches and 23 accurate passes while failing to have a successful dribble or a single touch in the opposition box.
Fans have taken to social media to react to his outing, and many now feel he is not quite as good as he has been made out to be.
