Man City stars will hate how Pep Guardiola humiliated their teammate

Man City players would have “not liked” Pep Guardiola’s on-pitch rant to Jack Grealish after their clash against Arsenal on Sunday (31 March).

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke claimed that teammates would have hated the boss handing Grealish, 28, a “dressing down” in front of live cameras.

The Citizens fought out a 0-0 draw at the Etihad against their fellow title-chasers, but Guardiola, 53, seemed to single out the former Aston Villa star for his role in the game.

Following the altercation with Grealish, Guardiola claimed that he reacts in that nature “for the cameras, for my ego”.

Man City players unhappy with fiery Guardiola chat with Grealish

“I’m the famous person of the team, if it’s on camera then I can sleep because I have incredible satisfaction.”

O’Rourke admitted that he personally had no problem with the Spaniard’s fiery reaction and claimed there were no continuing issues between the boss and Grealish.

“There’s nothing wrong with [Guardiola’s reaction], it just shows how passionate he is,” O’Rourke told the Insider Track podcast.

“It was something that was fresh in his mind from the game so he wanted to get it across to the player as quickly as possible.

“Guardiola is such a perfectionist and the only issue here is that he wants to get his point across to the players.

“It’s not just Grealish – he’s done it to several players over the years at other clubs as well.

“He’s a perfectionist and he wants things done his way, which is the right way normally as you can see how successful he’s been in his managerial career.

“From what I know, some of the players would not like [Grealish] getting a dressing down in front of the camera.

“But I don’t think there’s any major issues between the manager and Grealish.”
