Kieran Maguire: Man City ‘still want more’ after £13bn deal agreed
Man City will be pleased with the new Champions League TV deal – but the Super League project would have secured even greater revenues.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the fate of the controversial breakaway plot.
As relayed by The Times last Wednesday (9 February), Uefa are set to unveil a new £12.6billion rights package for the Champions League.

Uefa and the European Club Association are understood to believe the deal will kill off the Super League once and for all.
City were one of six Premier League teams to back and then abandon the project in April last year after an enormous fan backlash.
But Maguire claims that City will not rule anything out that can guarantee them even more money.
“They still want more and are always going to want more,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“The Premier League clubs will be happy with the extra money but will also want more of a guarantee, and that’s what Super League offers.
“I anticipate that the sneaky six will try and extract more and more from Uefa but this is certainly a step in the right direction.
“Nobody knows what the final broadcast figures would have been for Super League, but they were guaranteed, which is good from a budgeting view.
“City were always, however, one of the most reluctant partners. I think they went along on the grounds that they didn’t want to miss out.
