Kieran Maguire tips Man City to fly multiple stars to UAE after another deal struck

Man City could fly multiple players out to the United Arab Emirates to carry out promotional work for sponsors in the region.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about City’s latest UAE-based partnership with Aldar.

The Premier League champions announced the commercial tie-in with the real estate property developer on Thursday (27 January).

The club have also signed deals in the UAE in 2021 with luxury hotel brand Emirates Palace and sustainability specialists Masdar.

City owner Sheikh Mansour wields huge influence in the Gulf state as deputy prime minister and member of the Aub Dhabi royal family.

Maguire explained the perks of concentrating their commercial firepower in one specific geographic location.

“Providing the segmental analysis has no overlap, I think the partnerships will continue,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“To a certain extent, it makes it easier for the club to sign deals because the commercial partner will want pictures of players alongside their product.

“City could send three or four players across and cover three or four of their sponsors and fly back in a relatively short period of time.

“They’re not having to hop from location to location, which means they can spend more time in training and focusing on domestic issues.

“This seems to be a strategy that does have a certain degree of logic.”

City’s biggest sponsor deal is with UAE-based airline Etihad.

The club trousered an astonishing £217.6m from commercial revenue streams in the last financial year.
