Man City to accept James McAtee offer – Stefan Borson drops verdict
Manchester City will likely sell James McAtee in the summer transfer window after turning down January bids for the midfielder.
That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the 22-year-old could be worth up to €40million (£33million).
McAtee spent last season on loan at Sheffield United before being handed an extended run in the Man City first team in this campaign.
The Etihad academy product has made four starts in his 15 appearances for the Premier League champions this season, where he’s scored five goals.
Pep Guardiola’s side are understood to have rejected a £30million bid for him from Bayer Leverkusen before the transfer window closed on Monday (3 February).
Speaking to the media on 31 January, the Catalan boss revealed he has a feeling Man City will need McAtee in the second half of the season after their midfield problems.
Man City recognise James McAtee value after bids rejected
Borson insisted there is a lot of competitive interest in the midfielder from clubs across Europe and the Premier League.
He told Football Insider: “I don’t think City have really decided what they are doing with McAtee.
“He can’t seem to get a first-team place, but they recognise that he’s a valuable player and they know they have got loads of competitive interest from a number of clubs in the Premier League and also out of Europe.

“What’s the price for a player of that sort of level? It must be €30-40million (£25-33million).
“I think he will probably go in the summer.”
