Man City to accept ‘significant’ Kalvin Phillips offer after Leeds news – sources
Kalvin Phillips is almost certain to leave Manchester City this summer as the club look to recoup some of the money they paid to sign him.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Man City will look to sell the midfielder on a permanent deal after he endured a “nightmare” of a time on loan at West Ham.
The England international failed to impress after joining the Hammers temporarily in the second half of the season, leading to the east London club abandoning any plans they had to sign him this summer.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month the Citizens’ £40million asking price has put multiple clubs off from making a move to sign Phillips ahead of the transfer window reopening next month.
Phillips is keen to go, and City will not stand in his way if they can secure a “significant” fee for a player whose reputation has taken a big dent over the last two years.
The 28-year-old’s contract is set to run until 2028 after he signed a six-year contract when he made the £45million move from Leeds United in 2022.
Kalvin Phillips could be set to leave Man City
It has been largely a couple of years to forget for Phillips after he failed to nail down a place in Man City’s starting lineup before enduring a disastrous loan spell with West Ham.
Football Insider revealed last month the midfielder had been criticised by Hammers coaches for his poor attitude in training and behind the scenes.
Phillips has lost his place in the England squad and won’t be heading to the European Championships this summer after he wasn’t named in Gareth Southgate’s training squad ahead of the tournament.
The Citizens are now looking to cash in on the Englishman as they look to bring in some extra funds for potential new signings.

Football Insider revealed last month Philipps is desperate to re-sign for Leeds following his previous exploits at Elland Road.
But that now looks extremely unlikely this summer after the Whites suffered defeat in their Championship play-off final against Southampton.
In other news, 29-year-old is “very unhappy” at Man City.
