Man City to be left reeling by ‘massive upset’ – Le Tissier
Matt Le Tissier has backed Brentford to put a huge dent in Man City’s title hopes when the two sides meet for a Premier League clash in West London on Sunday (5 October).
Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier exclusively told Football Insider that he believes Brentford will beat Man City due to their strong record at home and previous showings against big clubs, after they won against their rivals Man United last time out.
The Bees suffered a huge blow over the summer as Thomas Frank was poached by Tottenham to become their new head-coach following Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.
Their chiefs took a gamble and gave rookie Keith Andrews the full-time Brentford job, rather than an outside hire, after he had initially joined the club as a set-piece coach in July 2024.
Many tipped Brentford to struggle this season due to Andrews’ lack of coaching experience, but they have looked solid and currently sit 14th in the league with seven points and a game in hand on numerous teams above.

Matt Le Tissier thinks Brentford could beat Man City after Man United victory
Brentford beat Man United 3-1 last weekend for their second league win of the season, and they are yet to lose in their four outings in all competitions at the Gtech Community Stadium so far this term.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former England and Southampton striker Le Tissier insisted that he believes the Bees have a good chance of a win against Man City this weekend, and explained why.
He said: “There’s plenty of potential for shock results this weekend. The one that I am going to choose as the potential shocker is actually going to be Brentford [against Man City].
“They are going to be full of confidence after their victory against Manchester United, and they’re going to feel like they can turn Manchester City over.
“At that stadium, they are a pretty formidable force, and this is probably the fixture for me that has the most potential for a massive upset.”
Keith Andrews has issued high praise for Pep Guardiola ahead of Man City clash
Brentford will draw inspiration from their win against United, but City are set to pose a different challenge as they aim to preserve their title hopes and move into the top five with a win in West London.
Pep Guardiola‘s side did not start the season well, with one win in their first three games, but they have now lot lost in their last six games, and thrashed Burnley 5-1 in their last league outing.
Bees boss Andrews will be confident that his side can seal a result, but he was full of praise for his opposite number in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash, saying: “He’s probably been the best manager of the last 15 years, in the modern era.

“The way he’s coached the game, the way he’s changed the way the game is perceived and played at different clubs and in different countries.
“I’ve come through my coaching journey and coaching courses, and his name was pretty prevalent throughout those. To say I have ultimate respect for him is an understatement.”
Respect for Guardiola’s achievements is fair, but Andrews must make sure his side do not respect their opponents when they take to the pitch on Sunday if they want to upset the apple cart and come away with a surprise win.
