‘Man City to get rid of Kyle Walker for free’ – fans react to journalist’s update

Man City fans have urged the club to sell Kyle Walker this summer following a fresh update on a possible next destination for the defender.

The 35-year-old left Man City in the January transfer window to join AC Milan on loan in controversial circumstances. His exit came at a difficult time for Pep Guardiola’s side, who were battling injuries and struggling for form.

Man City supporters claimed Walker’s legacy at the club was tarnished by the manner of his departure, especially as the squad depth was being tested mid-season, and his comments after his exit.

The loan deal included an option to buy, but AC Milan are now unlikely to pursue a permanent move for Walker, particularly following the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as their new manager.

With his future still unresolved, and his return to Manchester far from guaranteed, many fans are calling for the club to sanction a permanent sale following a fresh update.

Kyle Walker receives transfer offer from Fenerbahce

Fabrizio Romano revealed on X that that Turkish giants Fenerbahce have made a “serious approach” to sign Walker.

Romano added that a “clear plan” for Walker’s exit was already in place “months ago.” He also tagged Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, who confirmed that talks between the two camps are now actively progressing.

Walker is expected to leave City after a glittering spell that saw him make 319 appearances, win six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and lift the Champions League trophy during the club’s historic treble-winning season.

His future was effectively sealed back in January when he opted for the move to AC Milan. Football Insider recently reported that Walker is one of seven senior players Man City are now prepared to move on this summer.

Man City fans call for Walker exit after transfer twist

Former financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Walker’s departure was a poor financial deal for Man City, with the club originally hoping to keep him for the second half of the campaign.

The loan deal to AC Milan included a €5million (£4.2m) option to buy, and the 35-year-old could now leave for a similar fee or even on a free transfer.

Walker’s relationship with the fanbase has noticeably deteriorated following his sudden exit and some of his comments after leaving the club.

Now, in the wake of Fenerbahce’s approach, City fans appear united in wanting the club to part ways with the full-back.

One supporter wrote: “Accept, get rid. The worst captain in our recent history.” Another added: “Sell for free, in fact we should pay them for taking this guy.”
