Man City to undergo ‘huge change’ as De Bruyne and Ederson exit – pundit

Man City are expected to undergo a “huge change” when Pep Guardiola departs the football club.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson admitted he thinks that is the club’s “biggest worry” despite the 115 charges looming over them.

The Premier League giants face an independent commission later this month after being charged for allegedly breaking 115 rules, but Robinson believes Guardiola’s future is the bigger concern.

There is growing uncertainty over Guardiola’s future at the Etihad, and the 53-year-old was linked with a move to Bayern Munich following Thomas Tuchael’s departure.

The Spaniard is out of contract with Man City at the end of the season, but Football Insider previously reported the club are desperate to extend his stay.

Man City fans would be worried when Pep Guardiola leaves

“The biggest worry for Manchester City and their fans is when Pep decides to leave,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“That’s when you’re going to see a huge change in guard.

“If Pep leaves, Ederson leaves, Kevin de Bruyne leaves, then all of a sudden you’re ripping out a spine of a club that’s been so successful.

“It’s that next generation, it’s the rejuvenation of that project, to me, would be more of a concern for Manchester City than these charges that are looming over them, I don’t think that players would leave.”

“You look at what’s happened to other clubs that have had points deducted from them.

“If the worst was to happen and Manchester City were to be relegated you sit the players down and go, ‘Look, we’re going to have a season in the Championship, we’ll get out of this and we will go again.’

“They’ve got a squad able to do that.”
