Man City told to block fourth big star from quitting this month after Bernardo Silva reveal – Agbonlahor

Man City must keep Bernardo Silva at the club at all costs.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor believes it would be detrimental for Pep Guardiola if Silva follows Ilkay Gundogan and Riyhad Mahrez’s path by leaving the club before the end of the transfer window.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 July) that City are growing more and more pessimistic about the possibility of keeping Silva, 28, at the club.

It is now believed that Man City are ready to accept a bid of between £45-50million for attacking midfield star Silva this summer.

The 82-cap Portugal international has won five league titles, four League Cups, one FA Cup and one Champions League title at the Etihad Stadium.

With his potential exit on the cards, Agbonlahor believes that it would be the wrong decision to allow Silva to depart in this window.

“I don’t think City should let Bernardo Silva go,” he told Football Insider.

“Selling him could see the club winning the treble last year, to only winning one piece of silverware in this upcoming season.

“Pep Guardiola allowed Kyle Walker and Riyhad Mahrez to leave as they didn’t want to be at the club anymore, and Bernardo Silva being added to that list will impact them if they wanted to repeat another treble-winning season.

“Man City should look to keep Silva, and tell him that Gundogan left the club first, so both of you can’t leave.”
