Man City vs Chelsea postponement update as Met Office issues yellow weather warning
Man City’s Premier League clash against Chelsea could be impacted by the weather after a new Met Office update.
Pep Guardiola’s side were held by Sunderland on Thursday, 1 January, seeing Arsenal restore a four-point gap at the top of the table, who thrashed Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side remain title favourites heading into the second half of the 2025-26 campaign, and the Citizens will be keen to get back to winning ways after seeing their streak ended at the Stadium of Light.
Their opponents, Chelsea, are three points outside the Champions League spots, now managerless after Enzo Maresca’s surprise exit, and the two are set to meet at the Etihad on Sunday, 4 January.
However, match-going supporters are faced with a difficult news ahead of the game.

Man City vs Chelsea at risk of snow and ice
Cole Palmer could haunt his former club, Man City, as the two sides clash once again, and he is always one to perform in the big games, even when not at his very best.
The Citizens had been on an eight-game winning streak until coming up against the Black Cats, while the Blues are searching for their first win in four games, most recently slipping up against Bournemouth.
Now, via the Met Office, a warning for snow and ice has been issued in Manchester, causing concern for the game between the two sides at the Etihad over the weekend.

The warning runs from 3pm on the Sunday to midday Monday, 5 January, which has the potential to cause disruption to travel in the surrounding areas, with a 5:30pm kick off.
While there is a low impact being predicted, the chances of those impacts becoming reality are medium.
Chelsea to prepare for the clash without a manager
Supporters will have, no doubt, been in shock when Maresca’s departure was announced by the club, but things were clearly not right behind the scenes.
It is understood that the manager went against the opinion of the medical staff when it came to rushing players back to the field, such as Palmer, who has struggled with form this season.
Xavi and Liam Rosenior have both emerged as options for the Blues, with reports suggesting that the latter is much closer to being appointed, likely due to his links through the BlueCo group.
However, just days before a huge clash at the top of the table, Chelsea are without a permanent figure in the dugout, which will remain a major talking point until someone is hired to replace Maresca.
