Man City will accept Matheus Nunes offer – Stefan Borson
Manchester City would sell Matheus Nunes if a big-money offer came in from Saudi Arabia before the transfer deadline.
That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Premier League champions would be willing to offload the Portugal international after his time at the Etihad has so far been a failure.
Nunes only joined Pep Guardiola’s side in a £53million deal from Wolves on deadline day last summer after previously impressing at Molineux.
But the 25-year-old struggled to make an impact for Man City last season, having recorded just five assists in 29 appearances.
HITC reported on 24 May Saudi clubs have expressed an interest in signing the midfielder, with Etihad chiefs ready to listen to offers for his services.
Man City could make small PSR profit by selling Matheus Nunes
Borson compared Nunes’s situation to Moussa Diaby at Aston Villa after he just completed a £50million move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, having only made the £52million switch to Villa Park last summer.
He told Football Insider: “I suspect Villa selling Diaby isn’t about PSR, it’s more about getting their money back for a player they think they can improve on.
“I think Man City would do it with Nunes in a similar way.
“They paid about £50million for him last summer. The player hasn’t really worked.

“If they could get Saudi to effectively bail them out by taking the player at the same price they paid, take a small PSR profit or neutral accounting profit overall by the time you have paid everybody’s expenses, sometimes you just take those deals.”
