Man City will complete four ‘high-quality’ January signings – top source

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has revealed he expects Man City to make “up to four high-quality signings” in January.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed City will be willing to pay over the odds to improve their squad after a poor first half of the 2024-25 campaign.

Man City sit sixth in the Premier League after winning just two of their last 10 top-flight games and also sit 22nd in the Champions League standings.

Pep Guardiola’s side have struggled to cope after the loss of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, who suffered a season-ending knee injury earlier this season.

One target in a more attacking role could be Dani Olmo, with Football Insider revealing on Wednesday (1 January) Man City are accelerating their interest in signing the 26-year-old after Barcelona failed to register him.

Man City could sign four new faces at the end of January window, says Wyness

Wyness insisted he expects any City signings to arrive towards the end of the window, which shuts on 3 February.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think they’re going to be busier than expected, and probably looking to spend bigger than expected.

“We could see up to four players coming into City.

“I’m talking high-quality signings. There’s a premium in January, but I think City will be willing to pay it.

“If Pep can get some fresh faces in, he can get the squad firing again. He needs that freshness and that competition.

“Suddenly, in the last two weeks, there has been more interest in this window from City. It may not be quick deals, but we’ll see some activity towards the end of the window.”
