Man City ‘won’t stand in the way’ of Ederson completing shock move – sources
Man City are seriously considering selling first-choice goalkeeper Ederson in the summer transfer window in what would be a shock move, sources have told Football Insider.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the “feeling” at the Etihad Stadium is that the 30-year-old is interested in pursuing a new challenge away from City.
Ederson is the subject of strong interest in Saudi Arabia and is considering the merits of a potential switch to the Middle East.
It is believed that City are reluctant to lose the Brazil international but sources say the club won’t stand in his way if a suitable offer comes in.
That counts as a huge surprise given his longstanding status as the undisputed number one in Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering team.
The Premier League champions are now giving serious consideration to their plans for life after the long-serving goalkeeper as they prepare for a big-money offer to arrive.
Guardiola’s side have Stefan Ortega as cover for Ederson – with the German shot-stopper filling in for him on several occasions in the 2023-24 campaign.

Sources say City feel well-equipped between the sticks – while selling Ederson could provide the club with a massive boost from a Financial Fair Play perspective.
Ederson made 43 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, notching 16 clean sheets and conceding 34 goals.
He is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until June 2026.

The former Benfica star joined in 2017 and has won six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy in that time, among other honours.
Ortega, who is out of contract next year (2025), played 20 times in the 2023-24 season and kept eight clean sheets.
