Man City’s Erling Haaland reacts to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Man United update

Erling Haaland has shown his support for the next potential manager of Man United following the departure of Ruben Amorim.

Man United parted ways with Amorim following a bust-up with Jason Wilcox, but more pressing issues have emerged from behind the scenes since his explosive exit from Old Trafford.

After Daniel Farke’s Leeds United claimed a point on Sunday, 4 January, the Red Devils are left sitting sixth in the Premier League table, just three points off the Champions League spots.

That success has not been anywhere near enough to keep the 40-year-old in charge, with several candidates being considered while Darren Fletcher takes over in a caretaker capacity.

Fletcher is set to be in charge against Burnley on Wednesday, 7 January, but it might not be long until a well-known figure has taken charge permanently if reports are to be believed.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer edges closer to Man United return

Reporting on Instagram (6 January), 433 wrote: “BREAKING: Man United are considering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club’s caretaker manager until the summer, several sources report.

“Solskjaer’s record as caretaker manager of United: 19 games, 14 wins, two draws, three losses, goal difference of 40-17. A 74 per cent win rate.”

Clearly, with a close relationship to the former United player and manager, Haaland showed his support for Solskjaer by liking 433’s post about his possible return to Old Trafford.

Since the original reports emerged, Solskjaer has edged closer to a Man United return, and it appears that the 52-year-old could be in charge until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

It was only a handful of days ago that Haaland uploaded a selfie of himself and the United legend, captioned, “Knowledge!”, but he could be coming up against him in no time at all.

The next Manchester derby kicks off on 17 January, just four days after the Citizens’ Carabao Cup clash away at Newcastle United, and three days before facing Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.

With two consecutive draws, Arsenal have moved ahead in the race for the Premier League title, so the Red Devils, and possibly Solskjaer, could put a dagger in their aspirations this season.

United, on the other hand, are just trying to stay in the race for the Champions League, with everything else blowing up around the squad, and they could be given a boost once Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo return from AFCON.
