Man City’s Kalvin Phillips price tags puts off top clubs – sources

Man City’s £40million valuation for Kalvin Phillips has put off multiple clubs going into the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the midfielder’s asking price is too high for clubs to consider a move.

Phillips, 28, failed to establish himself at Pep Guardiola’s side after his reported £45million move from Leeds United in 2022.

He was shipped out to West Ham United on loan in the January transfer window, but following multiple high-profile errors, he has managed just two substitute appearances in their last seven league games.

Kalvin Phillips to be forced to stay at Man City?

Sources have told Football Insider that Phillips has no future at the Manchester giants and they will look to offload him this summer should an appropriate offer come through.

The England international has been widely linked with a return to Elland Road, with Football Insider revealing (29 April) that he is desperate to re-sign for the Whites.

Football Insider also revealed (22 April) that he had been criticised by West Ham coaches for his poor attitude in training and behind the scenes.

Despite being a favourite of Gareth Southgate, Phillips looks set to lose his spot in the England squad ahead of the Euros in Germany this summer amid his lack of game time and poor displays.
