Man City’s Matheus Nunes reacts to Wolves ‘family’ message from Joao Gomes
Man City’s exit-linked Matheus Nunes reacted to a touching message from Wolves star Joao Gomes on social media.
First the points, then the pints, read a banner held aloft by ecstatic Wolves fans following their teams’ 4-2 dismantling of Tottenham on Sunday (13 April), all but securing the Old Gold’s place in the top-flight next season.
Goals from Rayan Ait-Nouri, Jorgen Strand Larsen, Matheus Cunha and an own-goal from Djed Spence gave Vitor Pereira’s side all three points, whilst Ipswich failed to beat Chelsea, despite having taken a two-goal lead.
The gap to the Tractor Boys now stands at 14 points, with Wolves having moved above Graham Potter’s struggling West Ham.

Joao Gomes shares touching message with Wolves fans
Following the win over Spurs, Gomes shared several photos to Instagram, captioned: “Like a family”.
The post was liked by former Wolves star Nunes, showing his support for the talented midfielder.
Having joined the Sky Blues from the Old Gold in 2023, Nunes could now be leaving Man City after some bizarre comments made by manager Pep Guardiola.
Gomes was heavily linked with Liverpool and Man United in January, having put in some brilliant performances for the Midlands’ side since joining from Flamengo in January 2023.
Vitor Pereira needs backing from Wolves board
Having replaced Gary O’Neil in December with things looking dire at the Molineux, before endearing himself to the fans with not only points but post-match trips to the local Wetherspoons for a drink with the fans, Pereira looks set to demand a sizeable transfer budget this summer to keep the good times rolling.
Wolves look set to lose Cunha this summer, whilst Tottenham are interested in Ait-Nouri.
The Portuguese manager received the boost of Gomes signing an extension to stay at Wolves at the beginning of April, but the good run of results these past few weeks are merely a band-aid over the issues that led to Pereira’s hiring in the first place.

Wolves are steadily declining and have been for the past four seasons, stagnating whilst those around them improve.
Pereira has staved off the threat of relegation this season, and he will undoubtedly receive a toast in his honour, but without serious investment this summer, the Old Gold may be preparing for life in the Championship this time next year.
