‘Man City’s primary target has reached full agreement over transfer’

Manchester City could be facing a significant transfer blow after Florian Wirtz appears to have decided on his next move.

The Premier League side were looking to sign the Germany international as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who will leave the Etihad at the end of this season.

However, German newspaper Bild reported on 9 May Wirtz is in total agreement over a deal with Bayern Munich and has no intention of signing for Man City or Real Madrid this summer.

Bayer Leverkusen are reluctant to sell to a direct rival, but Bayern are believed to be willing to pay £106million for the 22-year-old.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it will be a blow for Pep Guardiola’s side if they miss out on Wirtz as he is their number-one target ahead of the summer transfer window.

The attacking midfielder has registered 16 goals and 13 assists in 43 appearances for Leverkusen this season.

Man City are also interested in Morgan Gibbs-White following his strong campaign with Nottingham Forest, having recorded five goals and nine assists in 35 outings.

Man City want to sign Florian Wirtz and Morgan Gibbs-White

Borson revealed Man City were hoping to sign Wirtz and Gibbs-White this summer.

He told Football Insider: “I’m not sure it’s completely clear yet, but I think it’s obviously a blow because Wirtz has definitely been the primary target.

“That said, it’s extremely expensive from the looks of things. I still think there are some question marks over whether he will actually move this summer or not, certainly to Bayern because the deal just looks enormous.

“Then again, if he said that he is not going to go anywhere else, then from a negotiating standpoint, that is a problem for Leverkusen.

“If he doesn’t go to City, that will be a blow for them because it’s pretty obvious that he’s the number-one target.

“There was some talk on one of the podcasts this week that it wasn’t dead and that they were still hoping that they can get the player on board alongside Gibbs White.

“So, I don’t think it’s completely done and dusted, but there are clearly a few issues there.”

Man City lead Liverpool in race to sign Andrea Cambiaso

Football Insider revealed on 2 May Man City are leading Liverpool in the race to sign Andrea Cambiaso this summer.

If Juventus fail to qualify for the Champions League, they will be forced to sell players to raise funds and would accept £40-50million for the full-back.

Cambiaso can play on both sides of the defence and was a top target for Man City in the January transfer window.
