Man City’s Savinho reacts to Xavi Simons amid ‘De Bruyne replacement’ claim

RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons caught the attention of Savinho amid rumours linking the Dutchman with a move to Man City this summer.

The 22-year-old is one of the most sought-after players in European football right now, boasting 10 goals and eight assists in 31 appearances this season, having hit the ground running in Germany last term.

It has been claimed that Man City want Simons to replace Kevin De Bruyne once the Belgian legend leaves the Etihad, coming to play alongside the likes of Phil Foden, Erling Haaland, and Omar Marmoush.

De Bruyne has already crushed Man City hearts by announcing his decision to leave at the end of the season, with the club refusing to offer the 33-year-old a new contract, surprisingly.

With the summer transfer window now just weeks away, excitement is building over potential signings, and Savinho has just added fuel to the fire on social media.

Taking to Instagram (5 May), Simons shared a selection of images from life at RB Leipzig, alongside the simple caption: “H 0:00,” which gained plenty of attention on social media.

Aston Villa’s Ian Maatsen replied with two fire emojis, while Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber, Man United‘s Matthijs de Ligt, Liverpool’s Ryan Gravenberch, and Man City’s Savinho all liked the post.

Pep Guardiola bracing for difficult summer transfer window

Football Insider verdict

It has been an extremely difficult campaign at the Etihad Stadium, one which has seen Pep Guardiola come under pressure from Man City fans due to some of the poor performances.

Despite that, the Citizens might still finish above second-place Arsenal in the Premier League table and lift a piece of silverware with a final clash against Crystal Palace awaiting at Wembley Stadium.

There is still potential for Guardiola to be successful in what is being viewed as one of City’s worst seasons over the last decade, but a squad overhaul is still to be expected this summer.

With De Bruyne set to leave, Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic, John Stones, Grealish, and Ederson have all been linked with Man City exits, signifying a passing of the torch in Manchester.

Even with the additions of Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, and Abdukodir Khusanov, fans have been left disappointed by the team’s performances and will be expecting a big bounce-back next season.
