Man United 19-year-old tipped for ‘greatness’ after Zlatan Ibrahimovic reveal – pundit
Kevin Phillips has tipped Anthony Elanga to “achieve great things” after Zlatan Ibrahimovic lavished praise on the Man United attacker.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the 2000 European Golden Shoe winner said one has to listen to “one of the world’s best” when it comes to Ibrahimovic, 40.
Elanga, 19, has impressed during his debut campaign for the Red Devils.
The winger’s efforts were recognised by Sweden manager Janne Andersson, who handed the teenager his debut against the Czech Republic on Thursday.
As quoted by the Manchester Evening News (23 March), Ibrahimovic hailed Elanga “a great talent” whom his country should be proud of.
He added that the winger has “all the future” ahead of him if he works hard.
Phillips claimed Ibrahimovic’s comments are justified given Elanga’s displays in an underperforming United side.
“That is a big statement but if Ibrahimovic is saying it you have to listen because he has been one of the world’s best players,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs. “You have to take notice of what he says.

“Elanga’s performances have been very good this season, especially in a side that is under pressure and that is under the spotlight 24/7. He’s done very well to handle the expectation. Clearly he’s got the mentality to handle the pressure.
“I agree that he will go on to achieve great things. He is just going to get better and better.”
