‘Man United and Chelsea under threat from European giants over Liam Delap transfer’

Manchester United and Chelsea look set to face tough competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town this summer.

The young forward has adapted seamlessly to life in the Premier League following his arrival at Portman Road from Manchester City last summer.

Having scored 12 goals and registered a further two assists in 30 appearances, Delap’s future at the club could be thrown into further doubt, with Ipswich‘s hope of survival fading quickly.

Accird is believed that the 22-year-old is not only attracting interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, but some of the most prestigious club’s in world football off the back of his fine debut campaign.

Delap attracting interest from European giants

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United and Chelsea are two of the clubs in England that have been tracking the 22-year-old’s development at Ipswich.

However, Delap reportedly has admirers abroad too with the likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and AC Milan among the overseas sides who have been alerted by his form for Ipswich.

The forward is expected to cost a fee of just £30million if Ipswich go down due to a relegation release clause in his contract.

Ipswich are currently third bottom of the Premier League, 12 points from safety with seven games left, but Delap has caught the eye since his £20mi move from Manchester City last summer.

Delap’s display against Bournemouth showcased his quality

Football Insider Verdict

Delap‘s underlining quality was epitomised by his performance when Ipswich took the trip to the Vitality Stadium recently.

The Englishman created the match winning moment through his willingness to run in behind and crash the box after bringing his teammates into play.

A long ball froward saw Delap forced out wide in which he waited for the supporting run of Conor Townsend, despite being squared up by Dean Huijsen.

Delap scored in Ipswich’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

He then weighted his pass excellently before timing his run to meet the ball and round off the move.

It was a performance that showcased the qualities that any top team in world football would want and proves why Delap could be on the move again this summer.

With Kieran McKenna’s side 12 points adrift of 17th with seven Premier League games to go the chances of avoiding the drop look remote.

And in today’s market the £30m release clause looks extremely affordable for a player who appears to be developing into a major figure at one of the most expensive positions in football, so it is little surprise there is interest from giants in the Premier League and Europe.
