‘Andre Onana set for fresh start as Man United uncertainty builds’
Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana has faced speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford this summer.
The 29-year-old has endured scrutiny surrounding his errors, while Man United are interested in Emi Martinez.
Martinez has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and kept eight clean sheets for Aston Villa in the top flight last term.
Meanwhile, Man United boss Ruben Amorim is keen on bolstering his ranks after the Old Trafford club finished just 15th last term.

Onana set to stay at Man United amid financial concerns
The Red Devils are in need of a major rebuild this summer, while former Man United chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that Aston Villa are interested in signing Jadon Sancho.
Amorim would ideally want an Onana upgrade, too, but reporting via the BBC Sport live transfer Q&A [17 June, 3.24pm], Phil McNulty wrote: “I am unconvinced by keeper Andre Onana, but they cannot clear everyone out given their financial position.”
Onana, therefore, could enjoy somewhat of a clean slate as Amorim gears up for his first full season in charge of the North West giants.

Football Insider verdict
Amorim’s clear priority is to sign a striker
After enduring one of the worst seasons in their history just last term, Amorim has plenty of work to do in the summer transfer window, even though Man United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
Andre Onana stats | Premier League 2024/25 |
Appearances | 34 |
Clean sheets | 9 |
Saves | 90 |
There is no doubt that the Red Devils would be in better stead to enjoy greater success next campaign if they bought Martinez, or another suitable upgrade on Onana.
However, Amorim’s main concern must still be to bolster his forward line despite the addition of Cunha, who notched 15 goals in 33 Premier League appearances for Wolves last season.
The Brazil international will likely operate behind the main striker at Old Trafford next term, as opposed to leading the line for the Red Devils.
Meanwhile, current number nine Rasmus Hojlund was highly underwhelming last season, managing a return of just four goals in 32 Premier League appearances.
But as Man United look to bolster their frontline, Arsenal could sign Viktor Gyokeres, which would come as a major blow for the Red Devils.
