Man United are about to do something for only the second time in their history

Manchester United have once again looked to dip into the transfer market to sign a future star to their youth ranks.

Manchester United’s famed Carrington academy has produced many stars over recent years, like Kobbie Mainoo, who is currently out of favour with Ruben Amorim.

Mainoo was a goalscorer in Man United’s 2-1 win over Man City in the FA Cup final in 2024, with another Carrington graduate, Alejandro Garnacho, getting the other goal.

Garnacho has since joined Chelsea after a bust-up with Amorim following Man United’s loss to Tottenham in the Europa League final.

Man United are close to signing Mouhamed Dabo from Senegal, to add to their acquisition of Malian Sekou Kone and Paraguayan Diego Leon over the last 12 months.

Cristian Orozco will join Man United in 2026

Dabo is the captain of Senegal’s under-17 side, and United are now looking to sign Colombia’s under-17 captain as well.

Reports from Pipe Sierra in Colombia have suggested that midfielder Cristian Orozco is due to sign for Man United when he turns 18.

Orozco, like Dabo, is a midfielder and will likely link up with the Senegalese youth international as well as Kone, with all three being signed on similar deals by the North East club.

Stephen Torpey was announced as Man United’s new academy director on Wednesday and his track record suggests we will likely see Orozco, Dabo and Kone follow in the footsteps of Mainoo and Garnacho into the first team.

Cristian Orozco will join Radamel Falcao as the only Colombians to play for Man United

Man United has been the home of some South American football legends, from Juan Sebastian Veron to Antonio Valencia; a host of talent has graced the Old Trafford pitch.

One talent who perhaps didn’t hit the heights that many expected was Orozco’s compatriot, Radamel Falcao – the only Colombian to feature for the Red Devils in their history.

Radamel Falcao was prolific before joining Man United

Falcao was a prolific goalscorer for Porto, Atletico Madrid, and Monaco in the years leading up to his loan move to United in 2014.

However, during his 26-game stint at Old Trafford, Falcao only netted four goals for the Red Devils in the Premier League, with the club turning down their option to make the Colombian’s transfer permanent.

Falcao went on to have another underwhelming spell at Chelsea before returning to form back at Monaco, scoring 54 goals across three seasons back in Ligue 1.

Orozco will hope that he is able to leave a better impression on Man United’s history if he’s able to realise his potential and make his way into the first team in the future.
