Man United are ‘very close’ to signing ‘remarkable’ teenager who is currently on trial

Manchester United look set to complete the signing of a highly rated midfielder, warding off Barcelona for the teenager’s signature.

Man United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea bought Ruben Amorim time, having previously been under increasing scrutiny for his side’s early-season form.

The Red Devils are now 11th in the table with seven points from five games, and some have suggested that Amorim is proving critics wrong as his side have the highest expected goals tally in the Premier League.

Some of the club’s summer transfer business has been criticised for the lack of a midfield acquisition, but reports have now revealed Conor Gallagher was offered to Man United on deadline day.

Man United close to Mouhamed Dabo deal

Reports from Africa are now suggesting that United are close to securing a deal for Senegalese midfield talent, Mouhamed Dabo.

Africa Foot have reported that Dabo is on trial at Man United, saying: “He’s currently on trial at the Red Devils’ training centre, the Bsport Academy prodigy has seduced the English club’s management with his raw talent and maturity.”

Barcelona were also reportedly interested in the midfielder, but Africa Foot added: “FC Barcelona hasn’t said its last word. The Catalan club is also closely monitoring the progress of Mouhamed Dabo, who completed a month-long internship at La Masia.”

Dabo, Senegal’s under-17 captain, will be United’s second midfield acquisition from Africa, with Malian Sekou Kone joining the club from the renowned Jean-Marc Gillou Academy in his home country in August 2024.

Mouhamed Dabo could become second Senegalese player to feature for Man United

Dabo would also be set to become the second Senegalese player to ever feature for Man United, after Mame Biram Diouf.

Diouf, perhaps better known to Premier League fans for his spells at Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers, made nine appearances for United in senior competitions.

After leaving United, Diouf joined Bundesliga club Hannover 96, where he scored 35 goals across two seasons at the club.

Dabo, a midfielder, would hope to have a more successful and prolonged spell at Old Trafford and will hope to follow in the footsteps of numerous great midfielders who have passed through Carrington over the years.
