‘Man United backed to complete Victor Osimhen deal amid Gyokeres setback’
Manchester United have been backed to sign Victor Osimhen, after the news that their move for Viktor Gyokeres has taken a massive blow.
Osimhen is currently a Napoli player, but spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 26 goals as the Turkish giants won the Super Lig title.
The Red Devils are in the market for a striker this summer, after Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee flattered to deceive in the 2024/25 campaign.
Ruben Amorim has had a torrid tenure at Old Trafford, guiding his side to their worst ever Premier League finish of 15th, and losing the Europa League final to Tottenham.

Man United suffer Gyokeres blow
Man United have been repeatedly linked with Gyokeres over the past few months, with the former Coventry man’s goalscoring exploits turning a lot of heads.

According to The Guardian [14 June], the Sporting striker would prefer to join Mikel Arteta at Arsenal, rather than joining up with former boss Amorim at Old Trafford.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (13 May), ex-Man United defender Rio Ferdinand revealed that he would prefer his former side to sign Osimhen, saying: “For Manchester United at this moment in time, I would go for experience more than anything.
“Someone like Osimhen has experience, he’s played in multiple leagues, he’s produced at every level he’s played at. Not just for the first team playing now, but also for Hojlund and Chido Obi, to give them a reference point for how a number nine plays.
“I’ve not seen enough of Gyokeres to be totally convinced, if I were going to go for one of them, I’d go for Osimhen.”
Man United won’t solve their problems with a striker
Football Insider Verdict
Man United have already announced the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, after they triggered his £62.5million release clause.
That isn’t all for the Red Devils who are linked with Bryan Mbeumo, and are expected to seal the Brentford man’s signature in the coming weeks.
However, despite all the attacking signings, Amorim still has a huge task on his hands to push United back towards the top of the Premier League.
Last season, the Manchester side picked up exactly half the number of points that title winners Liverpool did, and that gap can’t just be closed by a couple of signings.
Amorim needs to change the entire atmosphere around Old Trafford by implementing his own ideology and system before any real improvement will be seen.
