Man United backed to replicate Henrik Larsson deal by signing ‘perfect’ striker
Manchester United could be set to secure a huge signing that would replicate a move they made almost 20 years ago.
After a busy summer transfer window, the Red Devils had a slow start to the campaign with Ruben Amorim coming under pressure.
Over the past few weeks, Man United have turned their fortunes around and now sit sixth in the Premier League.
With English clubs likely to get five Champions League spots this season, United have a real chance of returning to Europe’s elite competition next term.

Man United tipped to sign Barcelona star
Earlier this month, Football Insider revealed that Robert Lewandowski could complete a Premier League move if he leaves Barcelona at the end of the season.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Polish striker could realistically join Man United.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Lewandowski could replicate what Henrik Larsson did at Old Trafford in the latter stages of his career.
Larsson spent three months at Man United on loan during the 2006-07 season, scoring three goals in 13 appearances at the age of 35.
Wyness added that Lewanowski, who is now 37, would fit perfectly into Amorim’s side and help develop the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I could see him coming to the Premier League, and I don’t think a move to Man United is quite so fanciful as people are saying right now.
“We’ve seen United play this card before. If you remember, Henrik Larsson came in basically at the end of his career and did a great job for a few months.
“I think Lewandowski would be a perfect fit for the United team at the moment. He has that quality upfront; he’s still got it, there’s no doubt. He could be a very good solution for United rather than them trying to persevere with young forwards, which has not worked out in recent times.
“So I think an experienced old campaigner working with a younger striker in training would be a perfect fit for United. I’m not dismissing Lewandowski at all, I still think he’s got a good season or two in him.”
Man United’s chances of securing midfield target revealed
Meanwhile, Man United will find it incredibly hard to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Hjulmand has been linked with a move to Man United in recent weeks, with the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham also interested.
However, sources say that Sporting are desperate to keep hold of their captain until the end of the season.
The Portuguese side are on track to reach the knockout phase of the Champions League, as well as challenging for the league title domestically, and see Hjulmand as imperative to their success.
