Cole Palmer has his swagger back and the latest signals emerging from the Chelsea maverick are that he’s ready to go supernova.
Chelsea have had a mixed start to the season with two wins from four games in the Premier League, and Enzo Maresca’s side lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek.
Tosin Adarabioyo was slammed for his Chelsea display, as the side’s defensive performance was also widely criticised.
In contrast, Palmer impressed for Chelsea, as he scored a dazzling first Champions League goal for the the club. The playmaker’s athleticism, touch, vision and ice-cold composure all came to the fore with the most sublime of goal.
His performance came just days before the side face Man United at Old Trafford on 20 September, and after scoring against Brentford last week, he’s found form at the perfect time.

Palmer reached a significant milestone with the Blues after making his 100th appearance after he started against Bayern Munich, and his statistics prove the impact he’s made, as he has netted 45 times since making his debut.
Palmer was signed from Man City in 2023 and has had a significant impact ever since his arrival. He netted 25 goals in his first season whilst scoring 14 times last term, and his performances have earned widespread praise.
Rightly so, for this is a generational talent with the ability and big-match aptitude few others can match.
Following his latest display, Joe Cole described Palmer as one of the top five players in the world ahead of Saturday’s clash against Man United.
Goals were harder to come by in the second half of last season, as he has notched only six goal contributions in 23 Premier League matches.
There may have been concern regarding the midfielder after he suffered an injury that kept him out of West Ham and Fulham, but he has returned on fire, with no issues at present.

However, on the upcoming fixture, Chelsea have struggled at Old Trafford, as they have not won there in the Premier League since 2013, but it presents an opportunity for Maresca’s side.
Despite Palmer having managed just two open-play goals in the league since early January, his summer form and return from injury serve as a reminder of his talent and the potential impact he can make against United.
