Man United big names lambasted by pundit as ‘toxic’ update reported

Noel Whelan has claimed Man United are a “club in shambles” and urged the club to have a summer “clear out”.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the atmosphere at Old Trafford has been “toxic” for years now.

According to ESPN (11 February), senior stars are “becoming frustrated” with Rangnick’s coaching methods, with a number of players believing his training sessions are “old-fashioned”.

Former Red Devils defender Gary Neville, speaking on his Sky Sports podcast on Sunday (13 February), branded the leaks “disgusting” and claimed to know where they have originated.

Whelan insisted Rangnick is “not the problem” at Old Trafford and urged the club to kick-start a summer exodus.

“It’s so toxic at Man United, there’s no togetherness whatsoever,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“But we’ve seen that for the last season and a half. A number of managers have come in, and still the players refuse to be accountable for their actions and performances.

“There’s whinging on the field, lack of work rate, bad body language – it’s a club in shambles. You look at clubs like Liverpool and West Ham – they’re all in it together. Man United haven’t been like that for years.

“The players have come out and started leaking that they’re unhappy with the training program – seriously? You’re getting paid about £200,000 a week – if you’re asked to do something, do it.

“Man United need a massive revamp, now. There has to be some kind of clear out because it’s clear to me that the manager is no longer the problem.”
