Man United blasted for ‘messed up’ Marcus Rashford in Aston Villa stunner – ‘How?’

Man United were blamed for their treatment of Marcus Rashford after his excellent performance for Aston Villa in the Champions League.

The attacker of course left Old Trafford on loan in the January transfer window to join Unai Emery’s side on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy.

That came after Rashford had fallen out with Man United manager Ruben Amorim, leading to his exile from the Red Devils.

Since making that move to Aston Villa though, the 27-year-old has appeared rejuvenated, and showed that again to the full extent against PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday (15 April).

Marcus Rashford stuns with assist vs PSG

After a 3-1 defeat to the French champions in the first leg of their Champions League quarter last week, Rashford and his side faced an uphill battle in that second leg at Villa Park.

They were not helped when PSG raced into a 2-0 lead, with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez enduring a moment to forget for the opener.

The hosts though would mount a fightback, with goals from Youri Tielemans and John McGinn levelling the game on the night and reducing the aggregate deficit to two.

Moments after McGinn had scored, Aston Villa were given even more hope when Rashford set-up Ezri Konsa to take the club to within a single goal on the aggregate scoreline.

The Man United loanee beat several PSG players with a brilliant run before executing an inch-perfect pass to set-up Konsa to finish into the bottom corner, moments after winning a corner by forcing Gianluigi Donnarumma into a high-class save with a lashed shot towards the top corner.

That prompted Jamie O’Hara to take aim at the England international’s parent club for not getting that ability out of him recently.

Taking to X after that assist from the England international, the former Tottenham and Wolves midfielder wrote: “Rashford is a baller how have united messed him up so bad”.

Man United may regret Marcus Rashford decision

Football Insider Verdict

Ultimately, Aston Villa were unable to get the fourth goal on the night that would have taken them to extra time and given them a chance of reaching the semi finals.

Even so, this was yet another reminder that Rashford can make a major impact at the very top level of the game with that assist topping off another decent performance.

That will therefore be another frustrating reminder for Man United of what they missed out on by sanctioning his move away earlier this year.

While the Red Devils are enduring a dismal campaign that sees them languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League table, Rashford is now thriving again in an Aston Villa side enjoying a brilliant season.

There may therefore be some at Old Trafford wondering what might have been had Amorim decided to bring the attacker back into the side at some point.

Indeed, if things continue to follow their recent trends, the questions over that move are surely only going to grow louder and louder.
