Man United star Bruno Fernandes reacts to Nuno Mendes’ emotional PSG message

Nuno Mendes has penned an emotional message after PSG were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea in the Club World Cup final.

Luis Enrique’s men were the favourites to beat the West Londoners on Sunday, 13 July, after defeating Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-finals.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half thanks to Cole Palmer’s brace and Joao Pedro’s chipped finish.

Mendes excelled as PSG won the Champions League last term, but struggled to contain Palmer on Sunday.

Mendes will hope to make amends for his poor display in the Club World Cup final when PSG take on Tottenham in the Super Cup on 13 August.

Meanwhile, the left-back took to Instagram [15 July] to send a message to PSG fans after the Ligue 1 giants’ defeat to Chelsea.

Mendes posted: “Not the way we wanted to end this incredible season. Proud of how far I’ve come.

“Thanks to you, we’ll meet again very soon.”

The 23-year-old’s message received a like from Portugal teammate and Man United talisman Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes shone for a poor Man United side last term

After enduring such a difficult season, Ruben Amorim must enjoy a successful summer of recruitment.

Amid Amorim’s efforts to bolster his squad, Man United remain keen on Bryan Mbeumo, who produced an impressive return of 20 goals and seven assists in the Premier League for Brentford last season.

Both the potential acquisition of the Bees winger and summer signing Matheus Cunha should help the Old Trafford side yield better results in the top flight next season.

However, Amorim also needs a new out-and-out striker after Rasmus Hojlund scored just four goals in 32 Premier League appearances last term.

But while Man United are interested in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Red Devils will need to sign an elite striker to get the best out of Fernandes’ creative ability.
