Man United coach in advanced talks to join new club after further negotiations today – sources

Man United assistant coach Eric Ramsay is in advanced talks to become Minnesota United’s new manager and break a long-standing Major League Soccer record, sources have told Football Insider.

Negotiations between the MLS club and the United man are close to a resolution after further talks on Tuesday (20 February), with all parties confident a full agreement can be secured imminently.

Ramsay, who is the youngest-ever coach to acquire the UEFA Pro License coaching credentials, is understood to be keen on the move to America to become a manager in his own right for the first time.

He has spent close to three years with Man United after initially joining them as a player development and set-piece coach under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back in 2021.

At 32 years old, Ramsay – who is highly rated in the English game – will be the youngest head coach in MLS this season by a wide margin.

NYCFC’s Nick Cushing, at 39, is the second youngest.

Ramsay will also become the youngest full-time head coach in the league’s history.

The former Chelsea Under-23 assistant coach and Premier League 2 winner speaks fluent Spanish and French.

He was appointed as a coach of the Wales senior national side last year (2023) but left the role months later.
