Man United could bank £32m+ payout after green light – Kieran Maguire
Man United could earn well over £32million from their Europa League campaign after they were cleared to compete alongside sister club Nice.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Red Devils will earn a minimum of £16million just from ticket sales in the league phase of the competition.
United qualified for next season’s Europa League after upsetting the odds to beat rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
There were doubts about United competing in the competition alongside INEOS-owned Nice, but The Times report that Uefa have given the green light for both clubs to be involved.
The new Swiss-style format for Uefa competitions means that United are guaranteed to host four matches at Old Trafford in the new league setup.
Maguire explained that United could make £32million from matchday income if they reach the final of the competition with additional prize money added on.
Man United on track for £32m+ Europa League payout
“In terms of the value of the Europa League, there’s a minimum of four home games in the expanded Swiss style,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Manchester United will be able to charge decent prices because the Europa League will provide some good matches against good teams.
“They will be generating somewhere in the region of £4million a match from ticket sales.

“So that’s £16m just from the group stage which would be doubled to £32m+ that by the time they get to the final.
“So those are sort of the numbers that that we would be looking at so it will be useful for Manchester United.”
