Man United ‘could be bailed out by Glazers’ after Ratcliffe twist
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now drawing the anger of Man United fans for poor on-pitch performance after buying a minority stake in the club from the Glazer Family in 2023.
Ratcliffe has now increased his stake in Man United to 28.9 per cent after injecting £238million into the club.
In a new twist, The Guardian reported on 12 February club insiders have suggested United would have run out of cash had it not been for the British billionaire’s investment.
It is also claimed Ratcliffe believes his decision to cut about 200 more jobs at Old Trafford in the near future is necessary to help the club avoid going bust.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on United running out of cash completely.

Glazers would save Man United if necessary, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted he believes the Glazers would “bail the club out” if necessary.
They took control of the club in June 2005 in a deal financed primarily through loans secured against the club’s assets.
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I don’t think they necessarily would have run out of cash without Ratcliffe.
“The Glazers haven’t been tested. We know they are very loath to put money in, but I think if it came to it – they would.

“It’s not beyond the realms of possibility – but I doubt they would get to that situation where there is no cash available.
“We did have that situation at Everton, when Moshiri said ‘that’s it, I’ve lost enough’.
“It can happen.
“I think United still have the Glazers willing to bail them out. You’d hope so, considering the money they’ve taken out in the past.”

Man United target Delap could cost £40m
Football Insider has been told by former Red Devils chief scout Mick Brown (20 February) that Ipswich will demand a “huge” fee to sell Liam Delap this summer amid interest from the likes of Man United and Chelsea.
Brown claimed it could take £40million to land the 22-year-old – who is wanted by top Premier League sides.
Ipswich paid £20million to sign Delap from Man City last summer (2024), and he has scored ten goals in 24 Premier League games this term.
