Finance guru: Man United could pull Super League U-turn as new behind-the-scenes link emerges
Man United would be one of the first teams to rejoin the Super League should the chance present itself – but it would take a monumental effort to get fans on-side
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider as the breakaway project regains momentum.
The company set up to help launch the pan-continental competition last April, A22, is still active and represents the three remaining Super League clubs – Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus.

As relayed by Sky Sports last Wednesday (19 October), A22 have now appointed German media big wig Bernd Reichart as their new CEO.
Investigative reporter Tariq Panja highlighted via Twitter later that day that A22 employs PR firm FGS global, the same company United uses to handle their media strategy in the United States.
Plumley claims that United, who pulled out of Super League with five of their Premier League peers last April, would at least entertain the possibility of signing back up.
“I think in terms of whether or not they could lead the other five back into contention, I’m not so sure,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“But I think it’s clear they would be involved in the Super League, particularly when you look at the ownership structure.
“From what we’ve seen from the Glazers over the years, we know they have been front and centre of these things. So, I think there is every possibility that United could get back involved.

“A lot of this for the English clubs over the next two or three years will come down to the fanbase. It was the supporters who shut it down with their backlash, and the clubs weren’t prepared for that.
“So at a commercial, financial and boardroom level, United and a lot of clubs will be up for this again. But the relationship with the fans will need to be managed, and that could turn things.“
