Man United could sell Marcus Rashford for ‘unthinkable’ £40m discount – Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed “unsettled” Man United star Marcus Rashford could leave the club this summer.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the 26-year-old may now only fetch “£60million”, despite previously being considered a “£100million player”.

Rashford missed much of the end of the 2023-24 campaign through injury and has been left out of England’s squad for the European Championships in Germany.

In a disappointing campaign, he scored just eight goals in 43 appearances (35 starts) across all competitions.

The 60-cap international, who came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford, has been widely linked with a potential move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain with Kylian Mbappe leaving on a free transfer.

Rashford could quit Man United at £40m discount, says Wyness

Wyness claimed interested clubs could now secure an “unthinkable” £40million discount on Rashford’s top price this summer.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think Rashford could well be off.

“It would be a surprise, but I think he’s been unsettled this season.

“There could well be another couple of midfielders out the door as well, but the forward line is really where they have to strengthen,

“Rashford himself may want to go. I’ve seen Paris Saint-Germain linked for a long time, and a move to Europe may make sense.

“A while ago, he would’ve been a £100m player. Now, if he wants to move – we could see something as low as £60-70m.

“That would’ve been unthinkable, but if there’s a willingness from both sides – then that’s the level we could see.”
