Man United could sign Victor Lindelof ‘upgrade’ after journalist’s talks update – Robinson
Ajax star Jurrien Timber would “definitely be an upgrade” on Man United defender Victor Lindelof, according to Paul Robinson.
The former Spurs and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Timber, 20, can help Harry Maguire “get back to his best” at Old Trafford.
Writing in the Guardian (30 May), Fabrizio Romano has claimed United have began talks with Ajax over a move for Timber.
Man United manager Erik ten Hag is said to be a big fan of the centre-back.
Timber, who is valued at £43million by the Dutch club, is under contract until the end of June 2024.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the potential signing of the Netherlands international, Robinson said: “Timber is a leader.
“He organises at the back. He would definitely be an upgrade on Lindelof. I think he could be good alongside [Raphael] Varane or Maguire.
“Maguire is not a bad player. He is just in a bad place and has been on a bad run of form.
“Under a new manager I think we will see the Maguire that we know. It will be a fresh start.
“Having a player like Timber alongside him would only help. I think Maguire will get back to his best with a top-class centre-half next to him.”

Timber made 43 appearances in the 2021-22 campaign.
He helped Ajax win the league title.
