Pundit issues Martial-Man United transfer verdict after update via Sky
Paul Robinson has slammed Man United forward Anthony Martial after he allegedly refused to play against Aston Villa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 26-year-old may have put off potential suitors with his actions.
Martial was absent from United’s 2-2 draw at Villa Park on Saturday.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick claimed the French striker “didn’t want to be in the squad” after the Red Devils named just eight substitutes for the fixture.
However, as quoted by Sky Sports (16 January), Martial denied Rangnick’s claim on his personal Instagram account.
Martial wants to leave Old Trafford this month, where he has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the situation, Robinson said: “I cannot see why the player would do that.
“If you are looking for a move away from the club, you are putting off potential suitors with that kind of attitude. It just does not show the right kind of character.
“Martial clearly doesn’t have a future at Man United. He has not helped himself by making those kind of noises.
“There has obviously been a conversation between manager and player. Martial has told Rangnick that he wants to leave.
“To say you are playing half way through January though, you are not helping your own case. You are showing a character that other clubs do not want.”
On Instagram, Martial said: “I will never refuse to play a match for Man United.
“I’ve been here for seven years and I never disrespected and I never will disrespect the club and the fans.”
