Man United deal for Jean-Clair Todibo could now be blocked in surprise twist – sources
Senior figures at Nice are prepared to block a deal from Man United for defender Jean-Clair Todibo, sources have told Football Insider.
The 24-year-old centre-back is a long-term target at Old Trafford and the Red Devils now share strong ties with the French outfit due to their shared ownership under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS.
As revealed by Football Insider, Todibo is part of a three-man defender shortlist at Man United behind Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.
It is understood that Branthwaite star is currently ahead of Todibo on United’s shopping list as Erik ten Hag would prefer a left-sided defender.
United have been linked with a move for Todibo in the upcoming summer window, but sources say that Nice are desperate to keep hold of the Frenchman for next season’s European campaign.
Man United could miss out on Todibo deal this summer
Premier League duo Tottenham and Chelsea were also linked with a move for the young Frenchman in January.
Nice are currently sixth in Ligue 1 but remain in the race for Champions League qualification.

However, the French outfit are winless in their last five league fixtures and could miss out on Europe entirely if they are unable to salvage their form.
Todibo has been one of the first names on the Nice teamsheet this season with 24 appearances across all competitions.
