Man United deal slashed by £15m – sources
The deal between Man United and Adidas has had its value slashed by £15million, sources have told Football Insider.
United struck a world-record £90million kit manufacturer deal with the German sportswear company in July 2023.
The deal is set to run for 10 years after both parties were eager to extend their partnership which was reignited in 2015.
However, a clause in United’s agreement is set to slash the value whenever the club fails to qualify for the Champions League.
It is now mathematically impossible for Erik ten Hag’s side to qualify for the Champions League in the 2024-25 season after an underwhelming campaign under the Dutchman.
Man United deal slashed by £15m after Champions League failure
It means that United will only earn £75million from their agreement in the 2024-25 season.
The Red Devils are currently sixth in the Premier League – 13 points behind Aston Villa in fourth with only four league games remaining.
United will now have to alter their budget for the 2024-25 season with their Adidas income set to drop.

On top of reduced sponsorship income, qualification to the Champions League under the new Swiss-style format would have provided the club with a minimum of £60million in prize money and broadcast payments.
However, the reduced £75million value of United’s Adidas deal still tops the Premier League as the most lucrative kit manufacturer deal with Liverpool’s £80million deal not set to start until 2025.
