Exclusive: Man United deals could be terminated after ‘concerning’ development
Man United released their financial results for the second quarter last week, revealing a drop in revenue of 12% on the same period in the previous year.
Revenues dropped to £198.7million for the final three months of 2024, down from £225.8million – with poor on-pitch performance starting to bite at Old Trafford.
United, who are without Champions League football this term, are struggling in the bottom half of the Premier League table under Ruben Amorim.
However, the one bright spark has been the front-of-shirt sponsorship deal signed with Snapdragon – which is worth £300million to Man United over the agreement’s five-year duration.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on the “concerning” drop in revenue.

Snapdragon could consider terminating Man United deal
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness suggested Man United’s revenue crisis could get even worse.
He suggested companies like Snapdragon will be “questioning” their level of commitment to the Red Devils due to their poor on-pitch performance.
Wyness also insisted the fight for future sponsorships at Old Trafford will now be “a lot harder”
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “We all know Man United are not doing well, that’s been reflected in the financial results.
“It’s coming home to roost for them.
“All these grand plans and strengthening the squad do require the club to remain consistent in terms of revenue.
Club | Sponsor | Value (£, per year) |
Man City | Etihad | 67.5 |
Man United | Snapdragon | 60 |
Liverpool | Standard Chartered | 50 |
Arsenal | Emirates | 50 |
Tottenham | AIA | 40 |
Newcastle | Sela | 25 |
“While they have got good contracts in place, sponsors are going to start to wonder if they should be paying top dollar to Man United.
“Companies like Snapdragon will be questioning their sponsorship level.
“Certainly, the fight for their next sponsorship deals is going to be a lot harder as other clubs come past them.
“I think these revenue numbers are a concern.”

Man United told £40m bid could seal Delap deal
Meanwhile, Football Insider has been told by former Red Devils chief scout Mick Brown (20 February) that Ipswich will demand a “huge” fee to sell Liam Delap this summer amid interest from the likes of Man United and Chelsea.
Brown claimed it could take £40million to land the 22-year-old – who is wanted by top Premier League sides.
Ipswich paid £20million to sign Delap from Man City last summer (2024), and he has scored ten goals in 24 Premier League games this term.
