Man United decide on signing Sofyan Amrabat permanently – sources

Sofyan Amrabat will leave Man United at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old is currently on loan at Old Trafford from Fiorentina and United have the option to make his move permanent this summer.

But it is believed the Red Devils have no plans to do so and won’t convert his loan into a full-time deal.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Man United have concluded Amrabat’s playing style doesn’t suit the Premier League after watching him in the 2023-24 campaign.

He has made 22 appearances across all competitions this season, racking up just 1155 minutes of action.

The Morocco international has started in 13 of those outings.

Man United will not activate ‘£21.4m’ Amrabat option

Amrabat has primarily played as a defensive midfielder but has also filled in at left-back for Erik ten Hag’s side this season.

Sky Sports reported last September (2023) that Man United paid an £8.5million loan fee for the 27-year-old and have the option to make the transfer permanent for £21.4million.

The 56-cap international impressed for Morocco during the World Cup in Qatar, putting him on the radar of top clubs around Europe.

But he has failed to impress in England and will now return to parent club Fiorentina.

Amrabat has made 107 appearances for the Serie A side since joining in 2020 and has also played for Utrecht, Hellas Verona, Feyenoord and Club Brugge.
