Medical expert sheds light on Lindelof after new Man United images emerge

Victor Lindelof will continue to undergo tests at Man United – but the early signs are good following his “worrying” episode last weekend.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Lindelof clutched his chest and was visibly shaken when he was taken off 15 minutes from time in United’s 1-0 win over Norwich City last Saturday (11 December).

A spate of cardiac-related incidents across football in recent weeks led some to fear the worst after it was revealed Lindelof had complained of heart pain.

But the Swedish centre-back was pictured by The Sun yesterday (15 December) arriving back at Carrington following United’s Covid outbreak.

The 27-year-old’s heart was monitored for two days after the incident, but Dinnery is now optimistic about his condition.

He told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams: “It was worrying at the time as there didn’t see to be any mechanism of injury.

“But Ralf Rangnick came out after and said he had some kind of collision.

“When you see a player struggling with breathing and that concern in his facial expression, you take them off. No chances taken.

“He was assessed post-match by the club doctor but tests will continue. They will want to ensure there is nothing underlying there and that he is still able to go out and perform.

“Whether he will be involved this weekend remains to be seen. Hopefully, nothing is flagged up in the coming days.

“We have seen Aguero announce his retirement recently, so it is a worry. But as it stands, it looks to be good news.”

United were due to face Brentford on Tuesday but the clash was called off following multiple Covid cases at Carrington.

Lindelof could potentially return when the Red Devils face Brighton on Saturday (18 December).
