‘Man United doing all they can to keep Bruno Fernandes’ after news he’s ‘unhappy’
Man United are doing all they can to keep Bruno Fernandes at the club beyond the end of the season, according to their former chief scout.
Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that talk over the 30-year-old’s exit will not be entertained.
There are also concerns about the price United would have to pay to replace Fernandes with a player who could give them a similar level of performances.
Football Insider revealed in May 2024 that Fernandes was not happy at Man United after the way the season had gone as United finished eighth in the league despite their FA Cup win.
While he was not expected to leave last summer, and ultimately stayed despite speculation, it has now been suggested the Fernandes could quit Old Trafford this year.
However, Brown has insisted the midfielder remains a crucial part of Ruben Amorim’s plans for the future and United will look to ensure he stays at the club.

Man United respond to ‘ridiculous’ Bruno Fernandes exit talk
Fernandes’ current contract at Old Trafford is set to run until 2027, while the club have the option to extend his deal by a further year, placing them firmly in control.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and worked closely with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson, has insisted any suggestions that Fernandes could be sold are “ridiculous” given his influence on the team.
“Bruno is their best player, head and shoulders above the rest of them,” he told Football Insider.
“He has constantly rescued them in difficult situations and difficult games.
“From what I hear, they’ll be doing everything in their power to keep him at the club.
“He’s still going to be a crucial player for Ruben Amorim.
“I think he gets the blame for a lot of things that are beyond his control, because he has carried this side for long enough off his own back.
“It’s about time some of the others stood up and were counted.
“To be talking about letting Fernandes go is absolutely ridiculous.
“What would it cost the club to bring in somebody like that who can do what he does for them?
“That’s the thing people seem to ignore – if you let your best players leave, they have got to be replaced, and that’s not easy to do at all.
“Especially a player like Bruno Fernandes, they have to make sure he stays at the club.“

Ruben Amorim sparks dressing room crisis at Old Trafford
Talk about the future of a number of Man United’s star players has ramped up in recent days after Amorim confessed he has told all of his players they could be sold in the summer.
However, Brown has slammed the manager for his comments which he told Football Insider have led to a “catastrophic” dressing room crisis at Man United.
Amorim’s quotes are said to have only inspired more negativity behind the scenes, while players are now considering their long-term futures at the club.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Man United could sell Kobbie Mainoo in an effort to balance the books after their previous transfer failings.
